About us

I bought my first Irish Wolfhound puppy at 1982 after years of dreaming and long waiting for a puppy. At the beginning of 80īs only few IW litters were born by each year in Finland and the breed was more rare than nowadays. Wolfhounds were not seen so often in the show rings either.

Since the day my first IW puppy arrived, I have shared my home with these wonderful dogs.
I usually have more than one wolfhound at the same time in my home. I like that and these dogs are enjoying the company of their own size and breed. I also find it fascinating to observe my hounds daily doings and how they are behaving in a pack - in different ages and situations.

Year 1987 my kennel name "Wild Frontier" became confirmed in the Finnish Kennel Club. At 1995 I bred my first Irish Wolfhound litter: My brood bitch was chosen a beautiful Danish import; Ulvsholms Treanna. "Anna" delivered me two beautiful litters C and S. In both litters there was succesful dogs included, also 2 FI Chs. Since that, I have bred five Irish Wolfhound litters to these days (2009). And nowadays am building up (hopefully) a new line from my wonderful bitch; Adrianne of Celerts (2xCC, 6xresCC)
Also few single other (hunting dog) litters have been born in our home during the years.

Because I usually want to keep one promising puppy home from each litter I have - I breed only, when I have a beautiful, breed typical bitch to go on further in my breeding work and I deeply feel, it is a right time for a new generation to be born. So I am not breeding very often, and am planning all combinations carefully beforehand by best of my knowledge. A little bit of extra luck is also always needed to make those good plans become true some day.

During the years I have also imported some promising IW puppies from abroad to keep my line alive. Some of those were excellent show dogs and some of them had a beautiful litter with Ch-offsprings too. All of them were also wonderful company and lived with us as a beloved family dogs whole their lifetime.

Because all my IWs are living inside my house as a family members, I want to keep my amount of dogs suitable, only few hounds at the same time. So I will have plenty of room and enough time to take care each of them personally and as good as possible.
I am doing my best, that every new Wild Frontier generation born, would be hopefully a bit better than the earlier one:
A gentle and breed typical, nicely moving IW with good longevity and health, is my goal to the future.

The Irish Wolfhound is a fascinating breed. Sharing my daily life well over 25 years with these mighty sighthounds, has been a wonderful time.
Hope I can have many wonderful IWs in a future too. And will be happy to answer, if you want to know something about these wonderful sighthounds. Just send me a mail! :)
